George is a second generation Maritime Executive and has held positions as a senior executive in World class Ship-Owning Groups holding such positions as Chairman of the Board, Chief Executive Officer, Head of Ship-Management, Director of Commercial Departments and Commercial Operations.
His experience includes running such departments as Chartering, Brokerage, Projects, New Business, Sales and Purchase, Ship Management and Operations.
This experience spans forty years in Chemical Tankers, Tankers, L.P.G. carriers, Dry bulk carriers and their markets. He has been a ship owner in his own right.
George was born in Alexandria, Egypt and educated at the Royal College of Science and Technology, now the University of Strathclyde in Glasgow, Scotland (Master Mariner).
McGill University, Montreal, Quebec, Canada (Transportation Management) and Baldwin Wallace University, Cleveland, Ohio, U.S.A. (M.B.A. International Management).
George is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers, London, England. He spent twelve years at sea, from Cadet to Captain. He served two and a half years in command of the state-of-the-art chemical tankers with the Stolt Nielsen Transportation Group ("Stolt") - the world's largest chemical carrier group.
George is the Managing Director at Alexander Management Consulting & Marine Transportation Specialists L.L.C., in the U.S.A. and Alexander Marine Management Limited in Canada, both privately-owned, offering International Maritime expertise in all Liquid and Dry Bulk Marine Transportation Industry facets.
Before that, he represented the Stolt Nielsen Group in Canada for seventeen years, then served at the Stolt U.S. head office (Greenwich, CT) for eight years, and most recently at the Stolt global headquarters (Rotterdam, The Netherlands) for two and a half years.
George served twelve years as a Partner, rotating C.E.O., first Chairman and Permanent Commercial Director at the Enerchem Ship Management and Transport Ship Owning Group.
The Company also managed a fleet of 9 bulkers and self-unloaders for the Royal Bank of Canada (Ex. Halco Group). We also operated Cleveland Tankers in Cleveland, Ohio (The only U.S. Flag Tanker ship-owning Company in the Great Lakes).
